Musasa
Black Tea, Jasmine Blossom, Lemon, Honey Dew, Cola
Rwanda is one of the specialty coffee world’s darlings - for good reason! This truly exceptional cup delivers the best of washed Rwandan flavours, black tea body and delicate, yet vibrant floral and zesty citrus notes. Expect delicious hints of sweet melon and cola paired with a sparkling acidity and a bright aroma.
We're so happy to bring Musasa back on the menu after more than a decade. This lot exceeded all our expectations when we set up the cupping table for a little cheeky reunion. Everyone at the roastery is buzzing with excitement after taking a sip of this one, and so will you.

Musasa washing station is focused on quality and meticulous processing methods while providing regular training in organic composting, harvesting and agricultural practices to local growers. We love to work with coffee partners who are this passionate about educating the future generations of Rwandan producers.
The cherries are grown and handpicked by over 1,750 smallholders who live within a 15km radius and pour their hearts and souls into growing crops on their small blocks of land. The farms in Rwanda are typically averaging in less than a quarter of a hectare which motivates the farmers to commit to quality to get selected.

The Farmer Development Program further supports the farmers with access to loans and farm services to keep their soil heath in check. The Musasa station works closely with a sustainability partner Kahawatu Foundation. They installed solar panels on the roofs and use a Pinhalense eco-pulper that significantly cuts the water usage.
We could go on: long track of reducing carbon footprint, use of organic fertilizers, waste reduction… not many producers lead the change in industry practices as vigorously as Musasa. We’re particularly proud to partner with an operation that invests into gender equality and empowers female growers to access land and seedlings.
